Liam is the resident artist at New Zealand's national stadium
"It is a priviledge and an honour to be creatively documenting LIVE events at the Park
- from the All Blacks to Coldplay, the Blackcaps to Pink - and everything in between!"
The artworks are painted LIVE at the events - look out for the Resene Art Station. Liam uses the iconic acrylic tester pots, often with a shared canvas set up for the visiting kids (and BIG kids) to leave their mark ; )

As an ambassador for painting LIVE and 'being present', Liam embraces the opportunity to share his passion for creativity, and inspiring future generations. His artworks are then completed back in his studio in Auckland, before making their way back to the curated Park Life corridor gallery on Level 5. The gallery is now a part of the Eden Park Stadium Experience and the newly featured Eden Park Art Tour - click HERE to book.
Eden Park are regular contributors to arts initiatives, with a dedicated team that are commited to thinking outside the box, embracing community, individuality and expression.

the 4 storey mural
RECEPTION | GATE G
The giant 4 storey mural was conceptualised and illustrated by artist Liam Downes. Stretching across multiple floors, the expressive crowd members begin life at the foyer entrance and work their way up to the top floor; the gateway to the Park Life Gallery.
With a strict deadline to meet ahead of the hotly anticipated Coldplay concerts, Liam called on the assistance of fellow artists and muralists Paul Walsh and Joel Nicholls of the MTA Collective. Liam and CEO Nick's vision was to capture the unique energy a crowd brings to an occasion, a merger of the spirit of fandom, incorporating national and international friends of the Park. Eagle-eyed observers may recognise a number of Kiwi legends; from Jonah to Taka, Dame Kiri to Sir Edmund.

“To combine forces with the team at Eden Park has been a genuine honour. To work on this feel-good and expressive piece, on such a gigantic scale – it is more than a photo, it is bigger than a crowd. ‘Park Life’ is a celebration of the people.”
